If you’d love to…

  • Improve the quality of your relationships
  • Experience a greater sense of inner peace
  • Learn to accept things beyond your control
  • Feel more focused, present and productive
  • Be more connected with yourself and loved ones

We’re here to support you through any challenges with the right counsellor and tailored program to help you thrive.

For Men

One of the biggest challenges facing men’s emotional wellbeing is the stigma around seeking support for fear of looking “weak”. This is nothing new, but it’s just as harmful as it’s ever been. The good news is that these outdated ideas are finally beginning to age out, and leaving a new belief system in their place – one that makes men’s emotional wellbeing a priority. We see counselling for men as a crucial opportunity to create a judgment and stigma-free space to unpack the challenges and accept support.

How We Approach Counselling for Men

It’s not easy to ask for help. Even admitting to needing support can feel daunting. But just because it’s hard, doesn’t mean it’s not a good idea.

We make accessing support easier by providing highly skilled, supportive counsellors who will ensure your time with us is a positive and life-affirming experience.

Holistic Counselling For Men

In counselling, every session is as unique as you are, but some of the most common focus areas include:

  • Stress
  • Trauma and grief
  • Relationship problems
  • Sexual intimacy issues
  • Abuse and assault (as a victim or perpetrator)
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Addiction

If you are having difficulties, we strongly encourage you not to let things slide until you feel there is no way out, or a defining incident leaves you with no choice. We are here and ready to help you now.

For Women

While most mental health issues are not gender-specific, some are unique to, or more common amongst, women, and require a specialised understanding and approach. We work to create a comfortable and sensitive environment that is conducive to healing and will help you open up about even the most painful or difficult challenges in your life.

How We Approach Counselling for Women

We design and tailor a therapeutic process for your needs and goals, both individually and in relationship with others in your life.

The main priorities for our therapists in counselling are:

  • Building a strong client/counsellor relationship
  • Providing a safe, judgement-free space for open listening
  • Unconditional acceptance to explore the challenges
  • Identifying the issues and creating awareness
  • Working together to find solutions and heal

Not only will you have a safe space to discuss and process any challenges, you’ll also learn useful tools, strategies and mindfulness practices that can be easily applied to your daily life.

Holistic Counselling For Women

The nature of counselling is that every session is as unique as you are, but there are specific issues that commonly arise in these sessions.

Common problems that can affect women include:

  • Postnatal depression
  • Concerns relating to pregnancy and childbirth
  • Relationship issues
  • Life crisis
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Accident or illness
  • Recovery from abuse and/or sexual assault
  • Eating disorders
  • Parenting challenges

We understand what it means to provide truly effective support and the difference this makes to our clients, and we have female counsellors on staff to support you.
If you’re ready to open yourself up to the support you need, we’re here to help!

 For Children

We all want our children to be happy and healthy, but when life gets them down, you don’t have to solve the problems on your own. We can take some of the confusion out of identifying and working with disabilities and disorders, giving you and any child in your care the tools to manage them.

How We Approach Counselling for Children

Our trained therapists work to create a trusting relationship with your child using evidence-based approaches that have been proven to support healing. We gently guide them in coping skills, managing emotions, and understanding themselves so they feel more empowered in times of stress.

We can support your child or teen with concerns such as –

  • Bullying
  • Cyber and media anxiety
  • Self-esteem
  • Boundary setting
  • Grief
  • Emotions
  • Trauma
  • Body image
  • School concerns from exams to student/teacher relationships
  • Parental separation

Please contact us if your child or teen has any concerns that are not mentioned.

At Wide Bay, we aim to support your family in their time of need. We also respect the privacy of our clients. However, if we are concerned about your child and teen, we will bring this to your attention.
